About the role

As a Scientific Director, you would be responsible for scientific and strategic excellence of accounts across the business unit. Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to:

  • Holding key client relationships built-on strength of scientific knowledge and strategic insight
  • Supporting the Head of Business Growth to drive business growth
  • Being a member of the senior team leader supporting the Senior Management Team in the delivery of Lighthouses’ visions and goals
  • Being a senior point of contact for clients, building confidence in the service Lighthouse provides and ensuring a high level scientific and strategic partnership
  • Having an expert level of understanding of client strategy and product, and maintains abreast of latest medical/scientific advances
  • Contributing to the development of the Lighthouses’ annual plan
  • Providing leadership to ensure the scientific and strategic excellence of account programs/projects across Lighthouse, delivering industry best outputs
  • Contributing toward the development and delivery of the Lighthouse range of offerings, ensuring each offering is delivered effectively to clients
  • Leading new business identification, and supporting the development and delivery of new business proposals/pitches
  • Mentoring and coaching the Lighthouse multi-disciplinary team (primarily the writing team, but also account team) to understand and confidently communicate around client science and strategy
  • Being a highly visible scientific leader to all clients and KOLs, as appropriate, generating client traction and loyalty
  • Ensuring industry best quality and scientific accuracy of the work that Lighthouse delivers
  • Ensuring compliance standards are met in-line with both Lighthouse and client expectations
  • Helping identify and improve Lighthouse processes and resources to help develop a best-in-class agency
  • Contributing to the broader training program for Lighthouse, particularly regarding writer development, to ensure employees are equipped to exceed clients expectations and assume greater responsibility for their roles
You will be an ambassador for Lighthouse, helping build the profile and client base of the Company.

What we're looking for

Successful candidates will have:

  • Education in a Life Science subject
  • Considerable experience in a Medical Communications Agency or equivalent transferable experience (e.g. Pharmaceutical industry) at a similar level
  • Strong capability in building successful client relationships with the ability to partner at the highest levels of the client organisation
  • Operational leadership-level experience managing all aspects of an editorial function within a Medical Communications agency
  • Able to engage and inspire a team behind a client vision, strategy and able to support the team to translate into clear plans and actions
  • Excellent understanding of scientific and medical communications strategy
  • Strong written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong personal industry network
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Systems and process literate
